hi everyone. i have been seeing a patient with a fracture of the distal radius and ulna, and she is with continuous swelling. i was wondering if there was any device like the ankle edema compression boots for the hand. or if anyone has any other suggestions, i would greatly appreciate it. thanks.

I like to use a simple compression wrap to decrease swelling. It can stay on longer and can possibly have better effect over the compression unit that swelling returns once the limb is reintroduced to gravity.
I like fabrifoam wraps because they seem to last longer and be more comfortable.

I use the GameReady at my clinic, and it has a wrist/hand compression wrap.

Jobst does make an arm sleeve for their units. If her fingers are swollen, an Isotoner glove may help if she can get it on without pain.

Can the patient sleep supine with the arm elevated on a pillow or foam? That could help as well, of course, it that position is tolerated.
