I think that's great advice! I usually have my patients continue with a low impact exercise such as swimming, eliptical, stationary cycle etc. depending on the injury. I advice all of my LBP patents to continue with a regular walking program. If the individual is motivated than I advice them to continue with their regular exercise as tolerated.

I recently treated an active individual with acute LBP. He responded well to manipulation and asked if he could return to squash and long distance biking one week after his injury. I told him I didn't seen any reasons why not and to let hispain be his guide. His outcome was excellent.

I also think this is excellent advice also for those patients that have signs of fear avoidance (high FABQ scores)!
