Is anyone familiar with the OCS exam prepcourse conducted by Eric Wilson, PT? If so, is it worthwhile? Any one with OCS certification have an opinion on prep course versus independent study? Below is the link for the course:

https://secure.motivationsceu.com/registration/BrowseCourses.cfm?lngTopicID=1&lngCourseID=100

Thanks

I don't know much about the courses, perhaps they are worth it. I did indep study. I also can't say much about the exam because I am an item writer.

There are books and websites that are definitely recommended. I am sure Duffy and others can point you in the right direction.

Eric: I did not do any prep classes....looked at the cost and figured I could spend my time more efficiently

I think that as exam time comes, you either know things or you don't. My rule of thumb, then and now, is to try and read an article every night. After a few years, you'll have amassed more knowledge than you would think!

I did re-read the Magee book and Donatelli over a span of about 6 months prior to the exam, and kept saying "I'll study" and never did.

If you REALLY want to knock your socks off, get Dutton's book "Orthopaedic Examination, Evaluation, and Intervention" Amazon has it

Dutton was my first pal in PT school...Me, a guy with a ponytail and blatant Pittsburgh accent..him with a British accent, who cut his own hair, and carried a switchblade (Oakland, where Pitt is located, can be rough)

He recently commented how clean cut I look in pics on my site, but I had to inform him the ponytail is back...mid-life crisis perhaps.

He is a very bright individual, and one of my site members is supposed to drop off his spine book for me to read and review for the site. If it's anything like his orthopaedic assessment book, I'll have to skip a whole week of updates just to focus the time to read it. I have heard the spine book will indeed make a grown PT-man cry. BUT, I think we all need a little reminding as to how much we really do not know

Does this mean that a new edition of Dutton's spine book will be coming out soon or are you referring to original book?
