Have a friend who suffered a TBI in a plane crash 10 yrs ago, since then has had ongoing deficits, mainly visual field loss and balance deficits. A few months ago, his Single Leg Stance score was 2 seconds. On Thanksgiving, he was bitten by a rattlesnake and received 9 vials of antivenom. He reported noticing a good improvement in his functional balance since this incident, and today his SLS score was 10+ seconds. Does anyone have any idea how the snake incident could have resulted in this improvement?

No idea. Since the vestibular deficits sound central (ABI) maybe the antivenom had some sort of anti inflammatory like effect on their CNS. Very interesting.
