Maitland-Australian Physiotherapy Seminars (MAPS)
Course participants upon completion will be able to:
Differentiate between normal and abnormal resistance to passive movement using accessory & physiological examination/treatment techniques.
Properly apply four grades of passive movement to peripheral joints.
Understand and apply Maitland's clinical reasoning model, including eight clinical hypothesis categories per M. Jones and D. Rivett.
Apply principles of treating pain & stiffness as per Maitland and other manual P.T.s.
Select the most effective treatment & examination techniques for the peripheral patient based upon clinical assessment rather than theoretical protocols.
Develop skills in differential assessment and diagnosis.
Develop the ability to quickly and effectively treat patients with orthopedic conditions.
