I have a patient 16 weeks s/p patella tendon repair. He wants to start doing some gym work and brought up knee extension machine. Typically I avoid this exercise in the gym. However, if he is going to do them no matter what I tell him I was hoping for some input on safe ranges to not overload the quad/patella tendon

I have read both 90-45 degrees and 30-0 as supposed safe ranges but cannot find a consensus opinion on what ranges are safe.

Thanks in advance for any input

imo there is no safe range especially for that diagnosis. Convince him of that and have him do squats or lunges instead. At least they resemble something that looks like real life.
