I am considering pursuing a career shift to school-based PT. I have grade III chondromalacia patella bilaterally. I am wondering if anyone can give me an idea of how much sustained squatting and kneeling is typically needed for school-based PT? If there is a high percentage of either, are there any stools or other aids that can be used to minimize this strain? Thanks!
I made the career switch too. Although I'm PRN hours, I'm definitely squatting and kneeling. I could probably find a different way, but I don't have the same knee issues so I haven't had the knee. It also depends on some variables, case load and district set up (are there multiple schools you're going to, or one central location?). Since I'm at 3-4 different schools every day, it makes it hard to make a specific set up for myself. If I had one or two locations, it would be easy to have a rolling stool available, which would definitely help the squatting and kneeling problem. Good luck!
