Hi all! im a pre PT student and I don't know much about the field.  My question is: is a personal injury lawyer able to send their clients directly to a PT clinic in certain states? I know only some states allow direct access. Thanks

Now there is an unusual question for a pre-PT student.... Why is that even important? It seems somewhat illogical: if you already know that there is direct access in some states, you must know that it means that anyone can refer any patient to any PT clinic - including the patient referring themself.  What does the personal injury lawyer have to do with it?
I am curious...

As I said, I don't know much about the field. I heard people talking about direct access in the forums, so I was wondering because I am a pre PT major, and my cousin is a pre personal injury lawyer, get why it matters now???  I am always embarrassed to even ask in forums because people always attack me. Remember, i don't know much at all! Please see me as an oblivious high school student for all it matters. you don't hear these things in the 6 o clock news ya know, and thats what Forums are for! To ask questions without being embarrassed about the topic. Guess I can't even do that.

anyway, I heard (student doctor network) Direct access has so many limitations, that you still need a M.D. referal, thats why I asked if anyone knows if its okay for a lawyer to refer.

I came to rehabedge because even in SDN, they are attacking me with my "stupid" questions. However, if I am a PT asking that question, you can attack me all you want.

Other than that, thanks for helping anyway. Does anyone know about the limitations?

Super... each state is different in the legal definition of "direct access."

I would beware though.. a family member referring to another family member may have ramifications.
While I was out in Vegas, when I was talking to one of the employees working the craps table, the employees of the casino were not allowed to gamble in the casino they were employed OR in any of the casinos owned by the company that employed them.
