Try this link, although I couldn't find anything for therapists. Maybe you can try at the collegiate level:

My dream was to be the head athletic trainer for the Washington Redskins...  John Riggins, Joe Theismann, Art Monk, Dexter Manley, Charles Mann, Charlie Brown, and my favorite... Darrell Green.  I never got to meet any of them or work with any of them.  :(  I loved watching their talent though, especially Darrell Green.  I'm pretty sure I'm in a better place even though I didn't come close to ever reaching that dream.

I like your dream!  I too had the dream of being the PT/ATC of the professional team in the town I grew up in, Boston, but I was more interested in baseball than basketball.  I was lucky enough to achieve my dream, here are what I would say to help you:

1.  Associate yourself with the best.  You need to seek out the best in your field and learn, work, and grow with them.  With hard work, time, and a lot of effort you will become one of them.  That is what I did, I searched out the best sports medicine people in baseball and discovered Dr. Andrews and ASMI in Birmingham, AL.  I started off as a student, then I did a year long fellow, 6 years later I was director of rehab.  I put myself in a position that the Red Sox were looking for me.

2.  Work your way up.  I agree with the above post, collegiate athletics is a step in the right direction.  Also will likely need to search out the professional ATC association of the NBA (We are PBATS in baseball, not sure about basketball) and look into doing an internship or volunteering, even if it is just for training camp.  Make you connections within the NBA.

3.  Be patient.  I dont think there are many new grads working in the NBA, use the above thoughts to make youself standout from the crowd.  You are trying to get a job with only 30 positions in the entire world, it will take a little luck and timing, be sure to be ready when an oppurtunity comes up.

Good luck,
Mike Reinold

Everybody's entitled to dream even though it may sound too ambitious.
I think it requires more than credentials to work with topnotch athletes.I totally agree with Mike. I am not sure where you're from but my advice: you need to work your way up working with the best athletes in your country first before going abroad. Another way is just to apply for a job in the US, start from the bottom and gain more experience in US sports field. Set up definite goals and timeline. Ultimately, and hopefully you'll get there. GOODLUCK!

And it will take some luck. I got to work with National, Olympic, and World athletes, as well as NBA, NHL and CFL athletes. was the National Therapist for the X-C Team for a few years (5, I think) and Chief therapist for some World and Olympic events. All because of the location of the clinic.....and then word-of-mouth.
I am now no longer into that level of athlete, and have a much more peaceful practice....:-)
