Tim,

There is currently a proposal going before the board to update our practice act. I'm not sure how successful we're going to be. In the past, we were shot down pretty hard due to the lobbying efforts of chiros and AMA. Regardless, change is being pursued. Wish us luck.

Good luck Pete. Remember PT's outnumber Chiro's in the US 2 to 1. They shouldn't be influencing our legislative efforts at all. I'm not sure on what grounds the AMA would resist our efforts to confirm our ability to thrust manipulate, given the safety evidence that exists at this time.

Fight the good fight.

It's the CMA that is leading the legislative fight. And they will win. They have the second biggest PAC, have big pharm on their side, and fight all providers attempts at scope expansion. Hell look at the NP and PAs here. The CMA wants all the slices of the pie and will not tolerate any advancement from non-MD/DOs.

California PT's,

Be patient with direct access ; iF you don't already have it, you will. Never give anything up in trade for DA. Nail down manipulation as a standard part of PT practice.
