Hi,
Would anyone let me know which functional assessment tool for chronic pain sufferers has the best validity & specificity? Where and how can I get it? I'm talking about general chronic pain covering headaches, multi joint pain, etc. NOT exclusive to LBP. Thanks in advance!

I haven't specifically looked for that kind of tool, but I would look in :
Finch E, Brooks D, Stratford PW, Mayo NE. Physical rehabilitation outcome measures: a guide to enhanced clinical decision making. 2nd edition. Hamilton, ON: Canadian Physiotherapy Association and BC Decker; 2002.
I know that while I was in Nashville for the conference that I saw it one of the book vendors... I'll be in Chicago next week - I'll look and see if the book is there and see if there is something regarding chronic pain within it. I won't have computer access next week, so it will take me a week to get back with you on that book or what I find in that book.

I looked in that book... didn't find a chronic pain functional tool.
You could look in hte interactive Guide to Physical Therapist Practice. If there's anything there, it will link you to the available articles describing it online in medline.

Hello, Perhaps these articles may shed some light on things. I am not aware of the validity or specificity of these articles/book sources but it was mentioned in a reference I read concerning chronic pain.

Baldo, hopefully you still check in at this site.
I came across something in my outcome references that might be helpful to you.
Millard R, Beattie P, Jones RH. A compreshensive review of questionnaires to evaluate chronic pain-related disability. Critical Reviews in Physical and Rehabilitation medicine 1997; 9:35-52.
I don't have that article, but hopefully it is helpful to you.
