Hi,

I was wondering how others gained experience for PT school while working full time? It seems that PT clinics only are open M-F 8-5 right when I working.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Thanks!

sdbio-

Bless you for working full-time through PT school.  Around here, in Northwest PA, there are several clinics that open at 6am, some close at 7pm, and some clinics are even open on Saturdays.  Call around and hopefully you'll find a clinic that will help you get your hours in!

I work 7 days a week. Thankfully, my Mon thru Friday job provides paid days off so I've used vacation time to do my 80 hours of observation. It's not my idea of a vacation but I've thoroughly enjoyed observing in a SNF, in a private practice specializing in McKenzie, in a hospital (inpt ortho floor), and another private practice.
Good luck.

I gained my experience by using vacation time, and then spending 40+ hours that week in the hospital (for all my weeks of vacation).  Since I was in retail, I often worked 12-8 or 1-9, so would get experience in the mornings.  Now, I run a clinic that's open until 8pm every night and Saturday's as well, affording some the chance to get hours in after work.

Agree with the above. There are many facilities that start before 8 am and finish by late evenings. Some do work weekends as well. So there is ample time to gain experience.
