My senior used to mention to me something called 'magic rule of 5' which is sth about predicting whether the patient can ambulate, by just adding the average muscle strength of UL and LL. I find this quite odd, do any one of you know about this and can share with me what that is here? thanks

Considering the number of kids that I've seen, esp with muscular dystrophy, that ambulate with an average MMT of 2+ througout the LE's, I'd question the logic of the so called "magic rule of 5's".
While we're on the topic though, why not a magic rule of 3's, considering that in theory, a person should need only anti-gravity control to be able to execute any movement pattern. Endurance may be an issue, but that wasn't the question.
Does your senior fully understand this?

in fact, my senior didnt tell me much about that, just mentioned briefly, since he said that was a kind of 'imformal'way. anyway , it is just kind of little jokes to me.
