ptnir -> NEW practice (May 9, 2008 11:31:17 AM)

Hi everyone,
I want to open up a private practice, however, I have no clue from where to start. I'm currently licensed in NY and am persuing t- DPT. I presently work in hospital acute care and in pediatrics. I want to know, what setting should I work in to get knowledge about the private practice. How to find location for practice. How to increase the knowledge about insurance companies, their contracts.

I will be highly obliged to recieve answer to any or all of the above questions.

Thanks for guiding me

Nir.

If you want to know what private practice is all about, you should probably practice in that setting.  Rules and regulaltions for acute care are very different than for private practice.  Services are billed differently also.  Use of supportive staff will be different.  There may be slight differences in documentation requirements.  In private practice you'll be treating your patients probably for a longer episode of care and also probably on quite a different frequency of treatment.
