I am thinking to open a clinic in a area where most of the General, primary physicians and orthopedic doctors work for the area hospital. The doctors work or are affiliated with hospitals. The hospital has an outpatient Rehab center and this is the only outpatient clinic. The hospital has various clinic for the physicians.
 
In this scenario would it be possible to meet these doctors and ask them to refer the patients to me. I am concerned if the hospital would consider this as some sort of solicitation?

Or what would be other good marketing technique

Market directly to the public, inform them they have a choice.
Who cares what the hospital thinks? you are now their competitor, they won't like you anyway.

If the hospital is the only outpatient clinic in town there is a serious need.  I don't see a problem with marketing your services.  Highlight the benefits of your facility weather it be advanced credentials, one-on-one care, insurances, late hours, etc.  A doctors job is to refer appropriately and give there patients choices.  The word will get out that you are better and off you'll go.  Good luck!  Remember to build a relationship with the doctor... you are not out to get them or the hospital only to provide an elite service to the public.

It seems like most on this site are hell bent against doing lunches for Docs, but It works great for me.  Do a lunch for the whole office.  Get to know the referral coordinator (they are the most important people when it comes to getting patients).  Build a relationship with them, and meet with the doctor as well.  Most docs will give you a few mins to let them know about your practice.  Thats what the food is there for, get everyone in a central area for a few minutes and just talk.  Its easy.  We haven't done a lunch for some time now, but just doing one works wonders.  If you get a foot in the door, then work on maybe taking a half day to shadow with a doc, or observe surgery.  It's a good way to get to know them, and remind them you are can be a valuable asset.  Once you start getting patients, treat them like gold, get them better, and everything flows form there....
