Wags... the credentialing company BCBSM utilizes here in MI already tracks relicensure and recertification.  I just had to go online and reverify a bunch of information to maintain up to date credentialling information.  IF a therapist does not renew his/her license in MI, BCBSM immediately withholds payment for services.  I'm not sure how BCBSM knows the license wasn't renewed, but they know.  That information is then tied to the NPI # and then somehow crosswalked with electronic claims.

Never heard of that being done but someone is keeping a close eye on credentialing. Wonder if this happens in other states as well.

What I was talking about is certification boards tracking test taking and CME hours, compiling a national database...rather than state to state standards.
