LRobi -> Physical Therapy vs. Therapeutic Recreation (February 28, 2008 6:52:17 PM)

Okay...I am majoring in Therapeutic Recreation and at the time i believed that it was similar to physical therapy....could someone clarify to me if they are indeed different.

If they are different, can someone explain to me how i can become a physical therapist such as what to get a bachelors degree in.  Thank You

PT programs tend to require...
Bio 1 & 2
Chem 1 & 2
Anat & Phys 1 & 2
Physics 1 & 2
Various social sciences like 2 Sociology courses, 2 psych courses, etc.
The GRE general exam

Check out a school that has a program that you might consider and they will clearly outline their requirements.

Therapeutic recreation is a specific treatment, Physical therapy is a profession.  That's the most fundemental difference between the two.  Go to the APTA website and browse around for more specifics on what PT are and what they do.
