Lucien -> Reimbursement issues and ACN (September 28, 2007 10:52:18 AM)

What are we are going to do with ACN and reimbursement rate of $45 dollars. This is what the APTA should be giving there #1 attention, what good is "vision2020" and Doctors of PT if the reimbursement rate is so low that PTS can't have there own practice. How are we suppose to help the public when this is happening. This is a 'criminal exchange' being paid this rate when we are helping people return to a improved way of life. I feel the average reimbursement rate should be $100.00 minimal and also stop  the cap with Medicare as well! There should be no other issue to look at besides these decreasing reimbursement rates.
So come on APTA lets get after ACN and promote PT to the public about how our profession is  truly a great option to improve your life. We want the public to "choose PT first" but we want this to be a "even exchange" once PT is chosen.  Lets get this done-what are we waiting for?
Lets all call and fax ACN the month of October!!!!

I wonder what everyone else's experience with ACN has been.  Like Lucien, I think that they are attempting to de-value our profession.  They contact me several times/year requesting that we use more forms and be more accountable in ways that are illogical and time consuming.  We don't see enough of their patients at this point that I have to aceede to their demands, but if they continue to grow, they'll have more leverage.

And I totally agree with his views on the APTA promotion of PT.  They seem truly out of touch with the things that are stressing this profession right now.
