goodlooks58 -> DCs joining MDs to provide PT (September 10, 2007 2:51:49 AM)

There are 2 Urgent Care clinics who have difficulty recruiting PTs to work so they are hriing DCs and calling it PT and Rehabilitation. In CA is this legal? i.e. without a licensed PT on staff and calling it PT? Also is it leagally ok for a MD (physician) hring another physician (DC) to provide PT? I wonder where do these MDs find attorneys to draw up these ventures?!!Yes, I have read on this post about DCs stating that the modalities are not "owned by PTs", however, a DC doing modalities and calling it PT is kind of questionable in my simple mind. I have sent this question out to the fraud investigator in the PT chapter of CA as any concerned citizen should do.

Depends on how the CA practice act for PT's and DC's is written. Contact  your state board.
