Just a question. Is a PTA allowed to administer the Berg or Tinetti or is this considered an evaluation/assessment tool and is only for a PT to administer?

PT's will use this for an eval, but through out rehab PTA's are able to use functional assesments to document how patient is responding.  PT's may then use these tools to re-eval, and then discharge.

To me, administering and scoring the Berg would be part of an examination and completely appropriate for the PTA to perform.  I would see this like measuring ROM or performing any other test.  Interpreting the Berg for the purposes of changing the plan of care should be the PT's call.

I wonder if this is addressed officially in a PTA description of practice somewhere.  Not just for the Berg specifically, but you'd think there is an outline somewhere of where the PTA's responsiblity ends and the PT's takes over.  There's probably a PTA lurking somewhere on this forum who has this information.
