PT4TOTS -> How to get on a HMO panel (September 20, 2006 9:18:00 AM)

I have been struggling over the past year to get on the panel of most healthcare networks in New york City without luck. I answer I usualy get is that they are not currently looking for providers in the area. Any of you out there with the same problem? How do you get around it??

Hey PT4TOTS,

I have had similiar problems in NJ with some BCBS Plans....namely NJ plus and direct access.

I was also told by Qualcare that their provider list is "full". It makes no sense to me.....I would have thought offering more options to members on where they can go would be a good thing?

Now I see Qualcare members through Multi-plan. So long as they have a multiplan symbol on their card.......I can see them.

You may also be able to use a group like PTPN? But I don't know much about them....maybe someone with experience on these folks can chime in.

Tom

Hi Tom,
I agree!! Anybody would want the most choices available when picking a provider. The market is so saturated here already, it is hard for a newbie.
Thanks for all your input.
