SJ, they opened the tower in 2003 to allow visitors to climb to the top. I have not done it but plan to in the future. It costs like 18 euro (about $25) or something. I go down to Pisa every other month to see patients at a small military post that is there.

Rome is absolutly breath taking, probably my favorite city, and pompeii was really cool too.

(All Italian pictures obained and used with my wife's permission)

As you can see there are several people up in the tower. There is a slight right bending scoliosis of the tower. All other structures are WNL. :)

Looks like the engineers did some re-engineering then. I'll be honest though, compared to Rome the Tower just seemed to feel more like a tourist trap kind of thing to me. Who would have thunk that an engineering error would get the kind of attention that it does and generate revenue. The whole tower thing felt more humorous to me than historical.

Currently, Rome is my favorite too. If I ever get the chance to return, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

What would be the 'ArmyPT Clinical Prediction Rule' for manipulating misaligned leaning towers.

Remember to be careful with the tower manipulation. It may cause strokes of multiple Italians (after all, if you corrected it they'd lose a lot of tourists - who wants to see the 'Straight Tower of Pisa'.
