gcowell05 -> clinical affiliation (June 10, 2006 11:18:00 AM)

Hello, I am currently in y second affiliation before returning for my third and final year of school. I am very interested in sports and manual therapy and would like to be introduced to it before practicing. I still have two more affiliations ahead of me one for two month and a final one for four months. I was wondering if anyone knew an affiliation site that was experienced in sports therapy , specifically in the suffolk county, NY area but I would like to have as many sites thoughout Long Island as possible. Thank you in advance

Heres a list of fellows of the american academy of orthopedic manual physical therapists(FAAOMPT)....repeat this 3 times!!
This is as good as it gets when it comes to manual PT's. go to this website click on the name of the PT and contact them regarding your request.
Sounds like you are seeking that xtra edge, these folks will square you away.
Best wishes

I believe that the APTA site has sports affiliations that you can apply to. Check it out.

GC,
See if you can go to the West Point Military Acadamy. It is home to the DSc US Army Sports Medicine/Physical Therapy Fellowship program and is one of the leading programs in the country in this area of concentration. West Point Military Academy is also home to one of the best orthopaedic surgery residency programs in the country. I did one of my clinicals there and it was outstanding; sports medicine all day long and in the evenings you get to go be on the sidelines for the some of the D1 sports programs as well as the intramurals. I can't say enough good stuff about the clinical affiliation that I had there. West Point is not far from New York City.

Check it out.

PS The guy in this picture is the ortho surgeon who performed my ACL reconstruction.

Good luck.
