I am looking for articles or research which show the treatment effect of iontophoresis on gout. The ions that we deal with in gout is usually uric acid crystals (most common). Is there any evidence, for any iotophoretic ions, which shows positive effects in the treatment of gout? I will appreciate any response.
Thankyou

Hello,
Just a quick search of pubmed leads to the following two articles:

1: Kamenskaia NS, Fedorova NE. Related Articles, Links
[The therapeutic use of iodide-bromide-sodium chloride baths combined with hydrocortisone phonophoresis in patients with osteoarthrosis and gout]
Vopr Kurortol Fizioter Lech Fiz Kult. 1990 Nov-Dec;(6):47-50. Russian.
PMID: 2077738 [PubMed - indexed for MEDLINE]
2: Pulatov RP, Ibadov SI. Related Articles, Links
[Effectiveness of using ultrahigh frequency therapy and hydrocortisone phonophoresis in patients with chronic podagral arthritis]
Vopr Kurortol Fizioter Lech Fiz Kult. 1988 Mar-Apr;(2):52-3. Russian. No abstract available.
PMID: 3400173 [PubMed - indexed for MEDLINE]

You could try MESH terms and see what else it adds. This was just a quick search, something you can easily do with PubMed.

I don't know if you are already using it but the Google Scholar search engine will give you lots of hits.

Check anything by Panus, P. He has done a ton of research and publication. I'll find the reference and post here for one of the most comprehensive reviews of Ionto.
