Hello,
I am highly interested in rehabilitation sciences. I have therefore resolved to pursue a career in that field. However, owing to financial constraints on me as an international student, I have almost settled for a certificate program in physiotherapist/ rehabilitation assistant at Canadian College. The program starts in September 2002. My ultimate aim is to work and save money after the program to enable me to go to University and do physical therapy. I am interested to know if there are jobs in United States for Physiotherapist/rehabilitation assistants. I’d also be happy to learn about the hourly pay rate for this profession. Above all, I want to be advised if the assistants program is anything worth doing at all or if I have chosen the right path or not. As experts in the field you know a lot about the chosen course, the merits and demerits of my decision than I do. I shall therefore value any advice or assistance that any of you is able to offer before I commit any further money into the program.

as far as I know there's plenty of jobs in the field that you are interested on (PTA), in the USA.

Kobby: Make sure that the program in which you are entering satisfies the requirements of the state you want to move to. I believe that it varies between states. I haven't heard of Canadian College is that the Quebec program? Also check what immigration requirements there are.

I've struggled with the same situation. If your desire is to diagnose, create a plan of care, and discharge patients then PTA is NOT for you. There are also very few universities that will continue upon PTA training towards PT. You can find out which schools offer what by following links on the APTA website. You will not retire early on the salary of a PTA, however you may do well to own a clinic and employee PT's whom you would work with, though that may create a strange employer/associate relationship. Have you done any job shadowing? Educational programs typically require it prior to acceptance, and it will also aid you in your difficult decision. Good luck on your journey!
