Ah yes, I see most of that was loans (presumably repaid long ago) a lot in the military catagory, and mostly just following WWII when anti-communism was rampant. There has been military and economic hegemony efforts on the part of the US since the Monroe Doctrine of 1947, the idea of manifest destiny, the "right" (sic) of the US to control the entire North American continent to achieve its own vision of security and "freedom"(sic).

Thanks for the info.

OUPT,

Note how when the US loans Canada money, instead of thanks, the US is accused of hegemony.

This is why I think we should cut off all aid to our friendly neighbors to the north, and if Al-Quaida attacks them like we were attacked, just tell the Canadians that we don't want to offend them by helping them.

Incredible.

I guess that attitude stems from having watched so many countries succumb to US "help". The only reason Canada isn't a banana reap-uglic is because we can't grow bananas here.

Oh, BTW, thanks for the loan (4 or 5 DECADES ago...) hopefully we will never need to "borrow" again.

If Canada didn't need the help, why didn't Canada just refuse the money?

Uh, one guess. They needed the help.

OUPT--George W. needed to take out large loans in order to get through college? I didn't know that. I fully support those who serve our country, just sometimes wonder who exactly they are serving.
