I never pay much attention to articles like this one. Personally, I feel the study is flawed. How can one standardize the exercises perfromed by different people and overseen by different yoga instructors? It all depends on the patient and their clinical presentation. Giving a patient a book to follow or telling them to take yoga to treat their backs is poor practice. everyone is diffenet and we all respond diffenetly. Treatments cannot be packaged and still be effective. I have seen people feel better from yoga, and just as many, if not more, exacerbate their condition; same with pilates.

Well said Karim. It needs to be specific, based on symptom behavior. This study, at least the exerpt from it, noted something along the lines of "conventional therapeutic exercise" used for the non-yoga intervention. That goes along with the saying "conventional wisdom is neither conventional nor wise". There are so many ways that LBP is treated that conventional exercises does not mean anything. Im sure, or at least I hope, that the conventional exercises are concisely defined in the actual study, but nevertheless.....
