I wish to write on this issue in regard to the development of this our noble profession.Research is known to provide the basis and cornerstone for which any profession will strive and develop upon.In physiotherapy,the isue of research has need special consideration in view of the fact not only being a professional course but clinical for that matter.Physiotherapy is different from other health professions in that all our emphasis are subjected to manual skills and exercises especially with the campaign for move from depending on electromodalities to manual skills flaring up.Researches for professional development in this aspect as in any other needs funding but the issue at stake is funding for researches has been difficult and over the years has been scarce.WHY? because the funders gain no profit from these most of our researches in that they will not use it to produce any product or market it or even have patent.The result is left to us in the profession to use on our patient.

research does not need to be expensive, nor does it have to be perfect. Case studies or small sample groups or selective samples are always a start. I think there is a lot more research being done than you may realize. Look at the Philadelphia panel, PEDro, Hooked on Evidence, or many other EBM sites. Good thinking, but not based in fact,happy hunting
