You seem to have a shortage of Pharmacists in America and it will take about five years to remedy the shortfall. Average salary for a Chain is $89,500. For a supermarket $85,000. Merchandisers $88,000 and hospitals $79,800.
Just think, you don't need to take a patient history, they can keep their clothes on, no evaluation, no tedious notes to their doctor or insurance Company and they all have pay up front. Not only that you hardly ever need to count past 100.

Job satisfaction has a greater meaning in my life and every other PT I know. If I get paid $89000 to count pills the whole day I will feel guilty after 1-2 years and will eventually go into depression resulting in popping the same pills I count! With all the crap we face every day in private practise I still get a +ve kick when I see my pt beaming with joy when they feel better about themselves....that's all I need and some money to pay my bills!

My sister in-law is a clinical pharmacist. She didn't "count pills" by any means. When she was in Florida, she was in the ER and her role was to advise the ER physician on the medications to be used in whatever situation. She has some stories that either pull at your heart or bust your gut. When they moved back up here to MI, she wasn't "counting pills" either. She was in charge of I guess, researching medications, educating on new medications and I think maintaining a supply of medications. She wasn't in their "pharmacy." She was also the one the physicians would contact if there were any concerns regarding the side effects and the effect of multiple medications. She did quite a bit...

They do a lot for the medical industry. Definitely not "pill counters"!

I just don't understand what the point was of the original post at all.
Was it saying that we should become pharmacists since there's a "shortage" of them and it's "easier" or "less stressful"?
Just seems kinda "out there" of a post. Not relating to anything else.
