Ethics and critical thinking not "critical for practicing PT"??? How about the extra differential diagnosis, imaging, and pharmacology? Not critical either I bet. Sheesh, what is critical? Being able to give an US followed by hotpack and e-stim?
Remember, your education isn't about you, it's about giving your patient's the best quality of care you can. You make the investment for them, not you (as a practitioner).
Question, would you rather have cosmetic sx done by a general surgeon or one that completed a cosmetic sx fellowship. Both can do the job, but the first avoided "a lot of paperwork...and tuition" and started "to make money" earlier.
I'll say it again...sheeesh!!

to Jason: I understand the importance of ethics in practice for PT. There are principles out there and they are on APTA web site as most of PTs know. But making 3 hour credit course based on that 10 principles, where instructor pick up movies out of movie gallery that you have to watch and then write a report on it is a little overboard. Besides studying for ortho classess and basic sciences students had to find time to watch movies and do paperwork about them. Same for some other classes that suppose make people think. I understand the importance of DPT, but in a reasonable way. There are instructors out there teaching medical school classes in DPT programs that do not know themselves what is going on. I would recommend for full time DPT students to check faculty in program and see is the MDs teaching. DPT programs with faculty MDs who teach basic sciences would be highly recommended.
