lekar -> Required MPT Textbooks (First year) (July 9, 2005 8:18:00 PM)

Hi,
I need to know some of required books that they currently teach in the first year of MPT programs, preferably in Texas schools (with the name of authors). I know that different schools may use different books, but it's still very helpful for me.
Thank you all.

Hello,
Some of the book that was required were the following:
1) Evaluation, Treatment and Prevention of Musculoskeltal disorders by Saunders

2) Therapeutic Exercise: Foundations and Techniques by Kisner

3) Differential Diagnosis in Physical Therapy by Goodman

4) Physical Rehabilitation: Assessment and Treatment by O'Sullivan

5) Joint Structure and Function by Norkin

6) Therapeutic exercise: moving toward function by Hall

7) Pathology; Implications for the Physical Therapist by Goodman

8) Principles of Manual Medicine by Greenman

Just to name a few. Hope this helps.

JMA

Be careful about buying too many texts ahead of time (before you find out your professors preferences and teaching styles)It may be more beneficial to contact the professors at the institution your going to attend; or better yet, current students. The students will be able to let you know which texts are not only required, but will actually be HELPFUL and USED. Some texts are great for learning and others are better for reference texts, which you could possibly purchase later.
