I am very interested in athletic training but I fear that it will take me one year more of school to complete the neccesary degree and still be able to fulfill all my PT pre-requisites, is that extra year of school worth the commitement?

could anyone here please answer catherine's question I quoted below...

"Here is my dilemma: I am a senior right now, about to graduate with a kinesiology option in exercise science but of course I decide NOW I want to do ATC. I would have to delay graduation for two more years in order to go through the ATC program. Is it still worth it to do ATC considering the extra time it will take?

ALSO I have heard of a specialization in sports PT. Can someone tell me more about that? What are the requirements, job description, etc.

THANKS in advance!"

It shouldn't take any extra time to complete both the AT program and PT program pre-req's. Most ATEPs have enough space within the major to take pre-req's for graduate school. I would start consulting with the program director at your school now and setting up a comprehensive plan. Depending on what school you are at, many of the PT pre-req's will be incorporated into the ATEP.
