Hello, Here is some info on the exam.
To all graduating physical therapy students preparing for the licensure exam,
Some people are asking me whether there are courses out there to help them review for the licensure exam. There is a company called International Education Resources that offers PT and PTA students preparatory courses. Their information is as follows:
60 Thoreau Street, PMB 101 Concord, Mass. 01742 phone 1-888-369-0743 fax 978-371-2356 website www.therapyed.com
Another review worth noting is actually given by the licensing board themselves. They made one available last year and it is available online for a price at www.fsbpt.org. It simulates the exam and they say they use past questions (perhaps those that are not circulating anymore). It replicates the exam with a timer.
Two additonal materials that I used also proved very helpful in my review for the exam. One was, "A Guide to Success: Review for Licensure in Physical Therapy", by Scott Giles, MS PT. It gave a nice academic review but I liked the clinical application templates for various conditions even more. Another was, "PT Study Cards by Theresa Meyers", broken down into small areas of study. It was concise but great to read in the train and didn't take up much space in the bookbag.
One thing I forget to mention about one review. Although I talked about the study cards by Theresa Meyers, the original review 2 volume set PT review has one of the best set of questions that I have looked at. It had more clinically based questions than O'sullivan and Giles combined, yet its own comprehensive review was very general compared to the other two. Still, it was a very good review in my book, especially the questions.
I heard about this book from a friend of mine that you can also use as a resource for studying for the PT and PTA exam.
Here is the info: 1. Physical Therapy Board Review by Brad Fortinberry, PT and Michael Dunaway, PT, 2002, 160 pgs. ISBN: 1-56053-497-4. $29.95 -400 review questions
2. Physical Therapist Assistant Board Review by Brad Fortinberry, PT, Michael Dunaway, PT, Justin Boyd, LPTA, 2003, 225 pgs. ISBN: 1-56053-605-5, $29.00 -400 review questions
Here again, I post two reviews that someone told me about as well to review for the PT exam: (Actually, its two resources but the format is different)
1. Preparing for the Physical Therapist Licensure Examination by Patricia Rae Evans, 1999; http://www.fadavis.com
2. Davis's PT Exam for PDA's based on Evan's Preparing for the Physical Therapist Licensure Examination by Patricia Rae Evans, 2003, also found at http://www.fadavis.com (this is software and the info that they talk about sounds interesting for those with PDA's)
Hope this info helps.

Hello, Keep in mind that the info I gave you may no longer be available. The reason being that new editions come out almost every year. So the ISBN numbers may or may not be the same. Most likely the 2004 version are out or slated to come out soon.

Thank you for the information. I was able to look up some of the references that you suggested. I ordered a couple of them from amazon the other day. I will let you know what I think of them when I get them. Once again thank you for your suggestions.
