SPT 06 -> 1st clinical (January 19, 2004 5:44:00 PM)

Hey guys my first clinical is coming up soon in an outpatient orthopedic setting. I am kind of nervous....anyone have any tips or ideas of what to expect?

Relax! Enjoy the moment, absorb all of the clinical information that you can. For outpatient ortho, Magee is a great bood to review.

Hello,
Your first clinical? You will learn a lot from the first. I suggest that you pay a visit to your clinical site, provided you have time, before you officially attend. It can give you valuable clues to see how things are run there, instead of being overwhelmed on day one.
Yes, Magee is excellent but kind of heavy to carry around. Go over your special tests from your notes and go over goniometer measurement. Do make time to go over goal writing if you can. It is crucial that this is established by your first clinical. It will make the others you go to much easier to handle.
This will be the best time to refine you tx and evaluation skills. Don't just listen, ask as many questions that you can, so that you understand things. Refine it here. It is harder to do later.
As Mr. Ball stated, relax and let the info flow in. You won't regret it.

JMA
