ACH -> Interview Questions (January 4, 2003 4:59:00 AM)

Hi,
I'm a college Senior in the process of applying to PT schools. Could anyone send me a list of questions that could be asked at an admissions interview?

Thanks

Hello,
Here are a few questions that I remember from way back when. Hopefully others can add to the list of questions. Hope this helps.

JMA

1. Why are you interested in physical therapy? Why not medicine?

2. Can you be a team player? Or do you like to work by yourself?

3. How has your academic course work prepared you for a PT progam?

4. Tell us about the last book you read?

5. Have you applied to other PT programs?

6. What have you done to prepare yourself for this profession?

7. Have you done anything to increase your chances of being accepted into a PT program?

8. Tell me what a PT does?

9. Tell us about the role you see a PT playing in the health care system?

10. How do you feel about long classes and labs that can last over 4 hours a day?

11. Describe the most stressful time you had during your college career and tell us how you dealt with it?

12. How do you usually deal with stress in general?

13. What kind of personal stress do you see associaited with our PT program?

14. Are you aware of how far the PT profession has come and what challenges we still have ahead?

15. What do you do outside of your work or academic studies?

16. What do you consider to be your weaknesses? What have you done to overcome them?

17. What are your stengths as a PT program applicant?

18. Why have you chosen to apply to our PT program?

19. Where would you like to work once you become a licensed PT?

20. What will you do if you don't get into a PT program this year?

21. Do you have any questions for us?

Be prepared to write an essay about yourself or a particular situation that is given to you to write about. Had to write one at the end of my interview to submit.

Some more q's:

How do you feel about inflicting pain?

When have you ever been required to change your mind about something that you felt strongly about and why?

What are your strengths/weaknesses?

What do you see as the future of the profession of PT?

What are your thoughts on alternative medicine?

What is evidence based practice?

I went through this process two years ago, and some of the questions they asked me are:

ofcourse :Why do you want to be a PT?
What is something about yourself you like/dislike?
What kind of PT experience have you had?
Have you applied to any other PT programs?
Do you know what the APTA is and what they do?

These are the ones that really stick out. Normally, they will try to have a conversation with you, so dont be nervous and just be yourself.
