Great to hear of your interest. We definitely need more engineers!
Looking at the APTA site (as mentioned above) is definitely a great first step. I would also recommend talking to local PTs and volunteering in a local clinic.
As for salary and other factors, they look pretty good now but there is no telling what will be out there when you graduate - the only reason you should do it is because you like the work. The money, while O.K., will not be astronomical.
PTs have similar complaints to engineers....that is.......start high, end low. There are opportunities if you are aggressive and entrprenerial, epecially someone with your background.....but for the most part, don't expect to get really wealthy doing this.
