Andrew M. Ball, MS, PT -> Week-Long Fellowship Opportunities (May 11, 2000 4:04:00 AM)

Hey folks,

Several RehabEdge members have recently e-mailed me regarding the opportunity to follow me for a week for a challenging pediatric experience that may include PWB-GT, orthotic intervention, pediatric examination and evaluation (standardized tests and NDT based quality of movement analysis), pediatric treatment, evidence-based practice, integration of clinical practice and research, and several other topics.

My answer is this:
Though I've done a ton of clinical instruction, lecture instruction, continuing education, and clinical mentorship in recent years, I don't currently have a formal program for shadowing established . . . yet.

I would however be happy to share my style and philosophy of pediatric practice with anyone who may be interested.

ACCOMODATIONS:
For those of you who live outside of the Raleigh/Durham area, I can't offer much in the way of accomodations other than the hardwood floor in my living room, a tent to pitch in my backyard, or (when available) renting a room from one of my co-workers for a nominal fee.

FEES:
As for the fee for this opportunity, the clinician side of me says do it for free and the exchange of ideas is reward enough. The MBA in me of course has other ideas . . .

For now, let's just say this:
If you feel like you learned something at the end of the week, a donation (or dinner) is welcome, but not necessary. If on the other hand, you felt like your week with me was a waste of time, keep your money. Once the "bugs" have been worked out of the program and it begins to run without hitches, I may then being to charge a small fee for shadowing. Finally, this opportunity is open to active RehabEdge members only.

For the faculty who have asked . . . Yes, I'm always willing to fly out for a few days to teach a lecture series, just e-mail me and we can work out the details.

I have not thought this whole thing completely through yet, but if anyone is interested in discussing a shadowing opportunity further, please e-mail me at Drewpt@mindspring.com.
