I have a ortho friend who wants me to design astatus post lumbar spainal fusion exercse program. He says normally he waits about 2 months before ordering PT due to being somewhat nervous of aggravating the hardware. He would be willing to start sooner. I would like to have a concise program to give to this doc. We do utilize aquatic therapy in my clinic. So we all know the basic core strengthening exercises to use i just would like to have a standardized protocol (land and aquatic) to give to this Doctor. Any ideas or better yet specfic protocls, would be appreciated. Thanks
Dano I would look at how well ACL protocols do. I would say not very good. although it would be nice if we could use them for research. to many variables out there to say all fused patients should do this or that. wish i could be more help.
I have been working a lot with spinal fusion and do have a set of "guidelines" which I follow loosely on a patient to patient basis. Of course, everyone is different, but it is a nice starting point. If you want a fax, please post back with a fax number.
