PJM -> AP neck mobilisation (March 13, 2007 8:06:00 PM)

Just wondering what applications other posters have found this technique useful for.

E.g. upper vs mid or lower Cx spine.

or local vs referred symptoms.

I have often used cervical AP mobs where referred events to the upper limbs and head are suspected . AP mobs will often incur neuralgic and other altered sensations to be felt along the nerve during treatment. This may offer some confirmation of the level and likelihhod of facet/nerve involvement in distal pain etc. Rapid reductions in those referred events can often be had with AP's . It is less well tolerated , though with care and persistance , a very usefull method.
The so called frozen shoulder pain and related C4/5/6 symptoms are easily relieved this way, though for complete resolution , this is best used in combination with PA's , dural stretches and sometimes MET type muscle tone reductions.

Hi,

You can use AP mobes for C1 on C2 mobes since the capsule and ROM is equal in both directions.

So when you diagnose and classify your patient's accurately, sometimes the direction you need to take the C1/2 joint will be amenable to an AP mobe.

Hope that helps somewhat!
