Hi again!
Saw my patient again today. She had a good day yesterday and today -analyzed her gait with a colleague of mine-for the 1st 1 or 2 minutes-she looked ok and when she got "tired" she collapsed into that left side flexion position, and then the pain down the leg started like clockwork. It was almost as if her opposite obliques were not doing their job.
You can imagine that for over 7 yrs she compensated so well for this and then one day-boom! everything set in.
I think the gapping techniques (which I did in non-neutral flexion and then extension) have helped and today I also worked on the neural aspect of her problem. She definitely presents with weakness-she is 80+ so it is what it is at this point. I will keep everyone posted!
Thanks again for the support!
Erica

Hi!
I wanted to wait until the end of the week to update on this patient as yesterday was her last day and she returned to Pennsylvania. I continued along with the neural mobs, the s/l gapping mobs, and the soft tissue work. She ended up getting a 1 inch external lift on her shoe. She had one put on a wedge type shoe (on the whole shoe) and then she had one put on a high heel, with the lift on the heel and the sole but nothing in the mid part of the shoe-since it was a high heel. She walked so much better in the high heel with the lift vs the wedge shoe, it was like night and day.

She also had a trigger point injection in her left glut maximus. After that injection she walked with her high heel lift and said she has not walked that way in over a 1 yr. Lasted about 3-4 hours.

She had more good days than bad days and still needs a heck of alot more PT but it was a start and I wanted to thank everybody for their suggestions!
