JSPT -> Manual clinics in Michigan (June 13, 2005 8:38:00 AM)

Can anyone recommend a good OMPT or manual-oriented clinic in West Bloomfield, Waterford, or Pontiac, Michigan? The sister of a co-worker desperately needs some movement re-education and strengthening.

Thanks in advance.

Did you try the FINDAPT database on the APTA website.
I found a great PT to hook my cousin up with that way....you just need to know the zipcode.

The database tends to self-select for APTA members and those who are interested in reliable marketing. So it's a good way to find a good practitioner in my opinion.

Thanks for the tip, Jason; I hadn't heard of that before. The only reason I ask for a personal recommendation is because I have referred family members to "orthopedic" clinics before, only to have them receive US, IFC, Dia, and some extremely generic exercises when some ortho/manual intervention was definitely indicated.

I wish I could say that this was an isolated incidence. In fact, the owner of the clinic I worked at right out of school advertised as an orthopedic expert. Out of his 5-10 evals a week, every single one got a least 2-3 modalities and he never actually tocuhed a patient; PTA's and aides did most of the work.

But I digress. Seriously, thanks for the tip.

JS, is Henry Ford in that area?

Try the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan at Lakes Medical Center in West Bloomfield....two very manually trained therapists with diverse backgrounds....30 minutes of hands on with each patient, very few modalities. Private email me if you need more info. Also, I can personally recommend Bill Bean in Southfield as an excellent therapist. I don't kow the others.
