valmarie -> Stretching techniques for near calcified muscles.... (July 6, 2003 1:41:00 PM)

Ok guys...here's the deal. This patient is an older gentlemen post HI. Was in a coma for almost a year in the hospital and did NOT receive therapy. Thereby losing a lot of range in his joints and muscles. It is now 4 years later and he is still being seen and they continue to try and stretch this poor guy. They have to use A LOT of force and the patient does NOT like it. Am wondering if after this long stretching has any effect at all. If so, any advice on how to do it? He is very tight! Please help!

(I just moved to Mexico and am volunteering...not legal to work yet and am learning the language...but also trying to put my two cents in where it is worth. Definately different here!)

Hello,
Although this sounds like a very difficult case to deal with, I would try grade 1 and 2 mobs on all the joints affected. Unfortunate that this had to happen. There may be long term affects because of this extremely long delay. PROM and stretching are way to painful to be perfomed at this stage
