anyone use ionto w/ saline for scar? I have w/ one pt, using the neg pole, and it has helped so far. have heard others say that it doesnt matter which electrode you use....any thoughts? Anyone know the polarity of saline? If you have used it, is there a limit on the number of treatments that can be safely used?

The search string:
Iontophoresis AND Saline AND scar
generated 0 hits in MEDLINE
As a result, the experimental technique of using of saline iontophoresis for scar management should not, in my opinion, be used in clinical practice unless the therapist is trying to generate data to publish a case study on the subject. It certainly shouldn't be billed to insurance or to the patient. The question of which pole should be used for delivery is therefore a moot point (but should be the subject of a clinical case study).
Iontophoresis and scar generated 11 hits, among them were:
Were I auditing your records, I'd have to wonder why you chose to use saline, which has no documented benefit for your patient, in lieu of Tretinoin, Tranilast (N-(3,4-dimethoxycinnamoyl) anthranilic acid) , estriol which has been demonstrated to be effective for at least some specific types of scars.
