Hi all.
I just did a quick search online, and don't have my texts w/me, so i'm hoping, confidently, that one or all of you know the answer to this question.
What are the following tests?
Gossip test
Fisher test
Thanks. I'm looking at an eval done at another facility and the referring physician asked me to interpret the PT findings.

Betty,

I just searched the indexes of orthopedic texts by Reider, Magee, and Dutton. None of these three texts lists the Gossip or Fisher. Frankly, I've never heard of them. Hope someone else has better luck than I.

I would say you are misreading the words. What is the context, is this ortho, inpatient, trauma, etc? maybe that would help. I know a PT who always wrote end-field for end-feel, there just maybe something that sounds like fisher, or like a PT who dictates and dictates FRS and gets mistyped as fisher, and something about hip that turned into gossip. I'd be pretty certain something was lost in translation here.

No luck here as well. May need to double check with the other facility where the eval was done.

Agree with Ben. Literally, lost in translation. call the facility to see if you have the correct spelling.

Thanks all.
It's a hand written eval, without much detail.
Gossip is definitely one of the words, followed by what appears to be test, but Fisher may be wrong. Both appear to be related to LBP assessment.
I'll call the PT and check cuz I'm baffled!
Thanks again.

I'm sure the Gossip test is for patients who complain they can't bend forward and you are sure they can. A copy of The National Enquirer is left on the floor of the cubicle with a picture of the Tomb Raider and Brad Pitt on the front. The test measures how many seconds it takes to retrieve the publication.

Hi,

I worked with a PT who used the "gossip" test to test for sacral fixation. I can't remember the exact way the test was performed but it was very similiar to Gillet's test. She was trained in the 70's so there may not be any studies or articles about the test.

Betty,
Since this is a week later...
I hope you were honest with the Dr. and told him you don't know how to interpret the tests because they're not standard tests.
He (or she) may want to know more about your interpretation of the findings more than what the other PT's findings were.
