I am a PT in a school setting. I have a second grade student with spina bifida who was just recently dx with osteoporosis of her L4 vertebrae. She does not ambulate with an assistive device, just AFOs. One of the goals on her IEP is to keep pace with her classmates while walking in the hallway. Is this a realistic goal/expectation for a student with spina bifida? She has difficulty keeping up for short distances. To keep up with her classmates, she moves from walking to a slow jog/fast walk. I would appreciate any feedback. Thank You.
