I have to admit that I just scanned this piece briefly and found it interesting.  I am going to try to find more information from the actual conference on Fascia that was held recently at Harvard.  However, it was thought provoking...fascia is not that well understood in relation to the effects it has on the function of neuromusculoskeletal system and pain.  I thought that you all might find this an interesting topic to discuss and grind about....

I found the website for the first international research congress that was held at Harvard recently, it is fascia2007.com .  The papers presented appear to be quite interesting.  Do any of you have any particular ways of approaching the evaluation and treatment of the fasica?  For something that is woven throughtout our body it is something that is not spoken about very often in the treatment threads on this or other forums.  I wonder why?

It will be intersting on how people respond to this thread. I can say that I personally don't give the fascia much consideration when I'm evaluating and treating patients, primarily because I have know way of accurately measuring whether fascia is contributing to a patients symptoms, nor do I feel that I can apply enough force externally to effect the mechanical properties of fascia should I feel that it is a contributing factor.

John Barnes has already determined that our consciousness moves through our fascia at greater than the speed of light and is the direct cause of pretty much any of our ailments.

Sarcasm aside.  The article was thought provoking.  Glad to see someone ohter than a PT or DC looking past "the fusion is straight and completely fused, so you must be cured" mentality that has permeated spinal surgery for the past few decades.
