I have experience in an acute care setting (tech and PT), and I am new grad (4 months). I understand being a new grad going into home health has it's pitfalls, but I feel pretty comfortable in a home setting from a previous career. I am considering home health PT because I have heard the money is very good, and there is a couple of PTs in town who do contract work and they would like to "take me on". I am wondering career-wise is this a good move for a new grad or do I take an chance at being "pigeon-holed". A friend suggested also working a day or so in a rehab setting so I could have this on my resume. Thanks txn mpt

I would suggest searching the archives here for the previous post on home-health pros/cons. For many of the reasons previously discussed, I personally would not go to home care by myself so soon after graduating. Yes the money is better, but there are many cons to going there with so little experience.

I agree with the above. It is recommended that you join the Home Health section of the APTA when you do decide to do home care at: http://www.homehealthsection.org/ for guidance/information and contacts.
