hi there, i am 26, i have a BFA in dance (performance-based, so absolutely no general or science pre-reqs under my belt), and going to be starting either a pre-physical therapy program next year (about 3 years to complete) or biology program (probably 3-4 years depending on summer school situation.) i want to know which is preferable to grad schools, also considering which will be more beneficial for my own learning and experience relating to PT, and which will better prepare me overall. i am thinking that DUH a pre-physical therapy program is totally fine, hence the title, but i have heard the benefits of completing an actual science degree can potentially be more of a proper preparation for grad school--and to boot, a physical PAPER that says i've completed this science program probably looks better as opposed to a non-degree pre-physical therapy program. what are your thoughts? i am thinking my dance degree (which i've received with distinction, thank you) will look great on my apps to grad school, but so will a degree in biology or related science, as opposed to just completing the bare minimum pre-phys program. i suppose it depends on how soon i want to start PT school, but i also want to be absolutely prepared and not look like i am lacking. can't wait to be an amazing PT someday! thank you! cookie

I went for a biology degree but then I thought about what would I do with it if I didn't get through the program. If I had an athletic training + trainer degree, I could work with athletes and I would have been able to go for the sports certification specialization through the APTA, since I like sports.
