I do alot of outpatient wound care, its certainly not a money maker, but in a rural setting, you do what you have to do. We have a high medicare mix, and reimbursement on e-stim and debridement is not great. You need to get a CPT manual for procedure codes/descriptors, also check the CMS manual on coverage issues with regards to e-stim for wound care as well as selective debridement. Just the other day I spent 65 minutes with a patient, but could only bill 2 units because they are not time units (doesn't matter if it takes 10 minutes or 30 to debride).
