I just wanted to post some recent work comp reforms, it can be difficult to keep current on this topics, so here are some updates:
* Nevada: updated medical fee schedule for work comp, effective 2/1/2005. Uses the RVP fee schedule for the comp program. RVP is published by Ingenix.
*Colorado: updated fee schedule 1/1/2005. Changes to conversion factor.
*Maryland: Proposed changes to medical fee schedule.
*Oklahoma: Proposals for new requirements for UR guidelines and new fee schedule. Greater adherence to return to work programs.
*Florida: Increase in work comp fee schedule, paid at 110% of Medicare fee schedule.
*Tennessee: Development of work comp fee schedule, use of AMA Guides for impairment ratings.
*Illinois: proposals to end balance billing and implement fee schedule.
It is important for the therapist, if treating work comp, to be aware of these changes as they may affect payer reimbursement and utilization management systems.
